Silent Came the Monster is a July selection of an 800-chapter book club
January 19, 2023
Hi, Everyone!
I have great news. SILENT CAME THE MONSTER, my historical thriller about the 1916 Jersey Shore shark attacks, is a July selection of the International Pulpwood Queen and Timber Guy Book Club Reading Nation! Founded by Kathy L. Murphy and headquartered in Texas, it's the biggest "meeting and discussing" book club in the world – with 800 chapters, including chapters in 20 foreign countries.
I'm delighted by this news, and more than a little surprised. Ms. Murphy - known as The Pulpwood Queen - selected an earlier book of mine back in 2012 for her gigantic book club. She rarely chooses a second book by the same author. I see this as a good sign for the book, and I am honored!
The publication date is Tuesday, May 16, just in time for summer. That's four months from now, which means I'm entering the jittery phase when a new book is preparing to launch. Yes, this is the eleventh time I've been through the experience, but you never know what's going to happen in the fickle world of publishing. Now is a busy time when the publisher starts to gauge the level of interest in the book based on media inquiries and pre-orders. Now is when people start to hear about the book.
This is also the time when it dawns on me anew that what I do for a living is downright weird. Through my own creativity, I have pulled something out of thin air that did not exist before. Soon it will be a print book, audiobook, and electronic book - take your pick - and the story becomes yours.
Wish me luck!
Until next time....
Amy
