"You mean I have to TALK to people?" That was my first reaction, almost twenty years ago, when I was sent on a book tour for HAVING OUR SAY. At the time I was much more of an introvert than I am now. The idea that I had to stand up IN FRONT OF COMPLETE STRANGERS at a book store or book festival in a strange city was quite frightening. You know what? I got over it. It's true that the more you do something challenging, the easier it becomes. It still seems weird to me to shift gears so suddenly, from being a near-hermit writing a book to being on the road and connecting with large numbers of people. But I have come to realize that a book tour is much more than just selling the book. It's about sharing it. As I'm about to start my "Miss Dreamsville" tour, I'm looking forward to meeting my readers, answering your questions, and hearing what you have to say.
